The challenge lies in selecting the correct serialization method using a unique identifier (UID), which should be non-sequential, non-repeatable, and possess a unique identifier.

    • Alphanumeric code
    • 1D barcode/2D barcode such as Data Matrix or QR code
    • RFID and NFC tags
    • Selection of relevant security features to hinder or prevent tampering
    • Changes to requirements during the implementation phase
    • Choosing the right solution based on a cost-benefit analysis or return on investment calculation
